WESTERN SWING - CD AJA 5214
27 HOT HILLBILLY JAZZ & BLUES
1935-1947
Western Swing took shape in the early 1930s in the honkytonks, dance pavilionsand radio stations of Texas and Oklahoma. The musical ingredients of the new recipe were clar from the outset: traditional Southern dance tunes juxtaposed with the new jazz and blues of the 20s, and melodies from the Old World and the Mexican border with the novelty output of Tin Pan Alley, it was a kind of musical ratatouille, different flavours mixed together until they were steeped in each other's juices.
