Ernest Tubb was one of those special kinds of people that exist too rarely in today's fast-pace world. Many of the Country stars who came after him owe him a debt that would be impossible to repay and most acknowledge this freely with affection. The stories of Ernest Tubb giving so-and-so his first break in the business or lending a helping hand to some other artist who had fallen on hard times would, if given enough thought, probably fill a book and at the same time be almost a who's who of country music from the 40s onwards.
